Spur Line Art Trail

I’ve recently completed a piece of artwork for the Spur Line Art Trail – the latest local arts project by Building Neighbourhoods Builds Community.

Working straight onto wood from trees felled on the trail itself, I took time to consider what the trail meant to me. I decided to approach it from an abstract angle, and have used shapes to signify various aspects of the Bow Valley. For example; the old Canmore mining train wheels, feathers to represent animals, the engine bridge, mountains and the lovely Bow river.

This piece and many others are currently fixed on trees on the Spur Line Trail from 7 Ave to just before the Engine Bridge in Canmore. The pieces will remain at least until autumn 2022, when the artwork will be auctioned off to raise funds for local charities.
