Valbella Gourmet Foods

Lino print artwork of local The Three Sisters mountain range for Canmore-based business Valbella Gourmet Foods. The artwork was commissioned for their new range of food packaging and in-store wall art.

I began by sketching the design onto a lino block before carving away the areas of the design that I wanted to remain white.

I then worked the printing ink on a pane of glass using a spatula until it had the right consistency, applying it to the lino block using a roller. The image was then transferred onto textured paper using a hand-rolling press.

As well as on their new packaging, the illustration can also be seen on Valbella’s vending machine and as a full-width wall vinyl. Limited edition prints are available for sale ($40), so next time you’re grabbing a scrummy lyoner sausage, feel free to pick up a signed lino print of our majestic trio of peaks while stocks last.
